The Volvo C30 has separate rear seats as well, but that's a fairly small car.

The lower rim is at waist height - look at the guy standing next to it - that's not what I'd call average height.
Beyond the rim, it's a considerable drop to the trunk floor.
Loading stuff into this trunk is going to require some serious lifting !
