What detonation? The fuel is injected in stages in multiple injections per combustion event.
Detonation occurs before TDC, while this injection sequence creates peak pressures by initiating combustion after TDC, then adding more fuel in sequential injections to control the pressure wave.
Did you read the information?
The goal is HCCI which virtually eliminates any post combustion exhaust treatment by creating a homogenous mixture that all ignites simulatneously, instead of detonation where there is a pressure wave initiated before TDC.
It could care less about octane rating.
