Thanks to everyone that helped make this thread so interesting, because of much of your feedback you all have taught me many lessons on saving fuel while driving safety. Now I can drive in/out of EOC over and over and the passenger next to me can not feel a thing! In fact the only way anybody knows I am in EOC is when I cut a curve a little fast for the home stretch or they notice me turning the engine off. 99% of the time no passenger can tell that my method of driving is anything more than shifting gears like any other driver in a car with a stick shift. So with practice driving in EOC can really help when you happen to be driving in an area that is say NOT... perfectly flat land. imho --- However,
as a WARNING to any newbie, I once learned via a scarey experience that it is NOT always safe to shift to Neutral and turn off the motor with the key on ACC (EOC) IF ONE IS GOING DOWN A VERY STEEP MOUNTAIN WHICH REQUIRES BRAKING!!! With my car I have a GOOD 5 PUMPS ON MY POWER BRAKES THEN I HAVE NO BRAKES!! I actually came down a mountain once late at nice and ran a Stop Sign and regain control by the Grace of God. I believe more should be said about the danger of losing power brakes. Once I learned that serious limitation of braking then driving in and out of EOC very smoothly became second nature, but it did take some practice for me to get it down so I can drive in such a way safety and with little effort.
May I ask a question? I have not visited this site for some time, so I do not understand exactly what some things mean here. On the Home Page of This Site, in the upper left corner I read:
Quote:
Top Vehicles MPG (US)
1. 2009 cobalt 4766.48
|
I was happy to see my model listed with a #1 near it, but I do not understand how the site computed this number and exactly what it means? I recall awhile back that the old late 90's GEOs wear getting like 60MPG here, so I am confused as to how the site computers this top ten and what it is really saying.
Thanks folks.
