After 4 years, no soot was being detected by the current standard emission test procedure.
That's how much they reduce soot

but I wonder if it is worth the extra fuel burned (not taken into account when calculating fc and emissions)

The fuel used to burn the DPF free goes through the tank, so it's included in my fuel economy.
With the DPF being a restriction in the exhaust path, it's also costing some fuel efficiency.
Then again, current diesels get good FE even despite all that equipment.
My car gets around 40mpg without trying.
But it's rather hard to get it to use a lot less fuel

or the loads of $$$ spent at the service station clearing codes, adding Eloys, or regenerating the filter.

The whole setup & maintenance certainly isn't cheap.

Many Peugeot and Citroen owners have dealt with the problem by removing their FAP and adding a sensor emulator to trick the computer.....

I know, that's an issue.
Many have had problems with them, me included.
It's taken 80.000 km (50000 miles) before the regeneration worked properly.
The newer versions are causing less grief though.
But as the current DPF systems mean no high blends of biodiesel can be used, the future of diesels is getting to look bleak.
