So I've been getting 46-49 mpg with my '99 Metro after a front grille block and lower front spoiler addition. Initially it was more of an air dam, but it didn't seem to work too well so I totally reworked it into a spoiler. I just recently bought a few items for the belly pan installation. I also now have a camera of sorts so I'll be posting before and after pics as well as pics of my aforementioned aero mods. I've looked at a few pictures of some folks who have done belly pans, and I think mine will be vastly superior to any of theirs. I'll be attaching PVC moldings to the sides and a wide one to the rear bumper and attaching a 4 x 8 sheet of fairly stiff FRP Pebble Board, smooth side down, to these, so there will only be cut outs around the rear wheels and the rear wheel A frames as necessary. The moldings will give me clearance away from the exhaust and any protruding elements under the car so that I can have a continuous flat surface from just behind the front tires to underneath the rear bumper. I'm not sure I'll do any belly panels under the front of the car as I think the front spoiler takes care of that for the most part. I will drill some holes in the rear panel for any air that might get caught above the belly pan and for drain purposes when water collects on top of it.
I will also be adding rear fender skirts after that, and probably at least a couple of moon caps for the front wheels. I'm not sure I'll need them on the rear wheels after installing fender skirts. I may also make extensions to my front spoiler that bubble out at the rear in front of the front tires. After all of this I expect to easily be a member of the over 50 mpg club. And the challenge is fun, and relatively inexpensive. GLTA

I tried to make paragraphs for easy reading, but it didn't work.
