I haven't really tried it in traffic.
On stretches of road where you'd expect to do a constant speed, I don't P+G when other cars are following.
Most of the time I try to pulse so that I arrive at the right speed at the place where you're expected to slow down anyway.
From the city limit, I can get home in 10 pulses

I'm trying to take advantage of elevations as well.
Pulsing on the downhill to get up the next incline if it's right after the downhill.
