The purpose of an air dam is to reduce the volume of air going underneath the car, and send it over or to the sides of the car.
Your drawing shows the lower grille to be increased in size, as the drawing extends the opening into the air dam. Don't do that unless you really need the extra cooling.
It'll scoop up more air, meaning more drag.
The idea of tunneling the air through a radiator is OK.
By changing the position of the bottom of the red guide plate, you can control how much air goes into and through the engine bay (=drag).
You can experiment with it to see how much air you really need, and you could possibly make it into a 2-position affair depending on the season.
