Sorry for you having to wait so long w/o a reply. 1000 watts is only about 1-1/3 HP and won't do much for you. You should think about your goals (max speed, range, budget are important) than post back. 30 mph top speed for 3 miles will demand a different propulsion package than 60 mph for 30 miles.
It's a lot of fun though! Enjoy yourself.
