VW uses a heated fuel filter in the TDI, not sure what temp they run it at tho, I suspect that using engine coolant you are never going to get the diesel fuel to hot and cause a problem, you are still going to need to heat your veggie tank just so you can pump it up to the engine, otherwise in the winter you are going to get solids in there.
