The Palm monitor works about the same as the Alltrax logging utility, but the Palm allows you to see the running total of energy used. And you don't have to lug around a laptop.
The more difficult part is finding a good way to mount the Palm cradle. I really haven't used it more than a few times, and normally just put it on the seat next to me.
As long as the Palm end of the Bluetooth adapter is communicating, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'd use the cables first, however, to see if it is something you find useful before working through a Bluetooth setup.
