I decided to increase my threshold for neutral coasting. It used to be around 15, maybe 20mph. Yesterday I was engine braking in 4th at around 40mph. I got down to 35, and then decided to go directly to neutral. The extra distance was great. I made it all the way to a light (long, fresh red) - a distance I only made one other time.

I realize this is a very basic technique on these message boards, but using neutral so early is still uncommon to me. My mechanic said it's not a problem, and that was the extra reassurance I needed.

Next fill will probably be next week at the earliest, and I'm excited to see if my increased use of neutral shows measurable gains.
