Lowest /highest engine on neutral iGPH you've seen on each of your vehicles?
What's the lowest instantaneous GPH you've seen on any of your vehicles while your engine has been on and in neutral? Please no 0.0 responses; I think it would be interesting to see how much idle GPH can vary between and within our rides. Of course, the more info you can include about when you saw the numbers, the better, but even if you just give highs, lows, and your vehicle, that'll do. I'll start.
On my '95 Tercel, the highest I've seen it is around .78 or so right after starting the car on sub-freezing days where both IAT and engine coolant temps were showing 5F. The lowest I've seen so far is around .21 or so after driving around town during some of our slightly warmer days here with my radiator block installed. I bought the car in the late fall, so I'm not sure how low it can get. As spring arrives, I hope to see it drop below .2.
So short version:
Car: 1995 Toyota Tercel, AT.
High: .78
Low: .21
As you can see, that's quite a spread. 10mph at .78gph is 12.8mpg, while 10mph at .21 is 47.6 mpg. It really drives home how much of a role engine and air temps play in efficiency.
