Research Grey market cars. In CA they did allow some grey market imports but recently they've taken to banning certain imported cars due to emissions/safety
. If you want a newer car with the 1.3, grey market imported is the way to go, keep in mind there is a tax on imported cars.
If you just want to save money on gas you're barking up the wrong tree. There are plenty of efficient cars to buy.
