People have used coroplast, stiff rubber, Walmart or Lowe garden edging , ... to produce air dams.
Your car is so low already that I wouldn't use anything solid like alu, nor solid and brittle like fiberglass. It's not going to survive on UK roads.
I'd use something that flexes but regains its shape, and is easily abraded by the road.
