Usually the political threads involve a lot of polarizing and derisive talk that only serves to divide the community. People generally are not good at filtering what they say or hear and such threads detract from the productive goals of the site, and leach off of constructive attempts, and thus demotivate many otherwise productive participants. Overall it is a net loss for ecomodder.

There's more than enough blather and froth on the net and places that enable it. I appreciate people feel strongly about this stuff, but y'all can cram it with walnuts anyway. Just my $0.02
