if you read the helms manual, it says that the clutch switch (where the cruise clutch switch is) is used in the idle control system. It's possible that lean-burn or other functions will work only intermittently or not at all if this clutch switch isn't working properly. This only applies to the D16Y5, and D15Z1 engines. I don't know if the '01-'05 civic HX uses this clutch switch for this purpose or not.
