I'd say these things
"work" by making the driver pay more attention to his driving and fuel use.
We've seen before that a more considerate driving style has a lot of potential - even without resorting to hardcore hypermiling techniques.
What's really silly about the FuelDoctor rebuttal of the consumer reports test, is that they blame them for using new(ish) cars .
As if this device will work on the same car in 2 or 3 years time, while it doesn't work on it now.
The electrical system in a car doesn't go berserk after 2 or 3 years .
