On my commute this morning I ran into another biker headed the other direction. As we passed he rung his little bell. I did a 180 and caught up to him. Had a chance to have a nice 15 minute conversation with him. He was going on over 2 years since his car-extomy and commutes on the e-bike rain or shine, night or day, 5 days a week. We talked about riding in the weather and he said that in 2 years he had only been caught out twice. Since his commute is only 23 minutes each way he said that watching the weather he can usually find a 23 minute window to make it.
The bike weighs 80 pounds and when it was all said and done the bike and gear was about $1700. His average speed is 13 mph for the 10 mile round trip commute. He still working on the original batteries that it came with. He's one of the few commuters that commutes in his work clothes that I have seen. It was fun to talk to another member of the underground.
