With an auto, if it had enough fluid in it to stay in gear and move the vehicle, it's probably fine (for now at least). The bit of slip you described definitely shortened its life though, so there's no guarantee of how long it will last (could be another 10k, could be another 100k). Definitely change the fluid (and drop the pan, clean it out, and change the filter) after a couple days of driving.
