New Guy; Basic Questions (of course).

Hey. Have a new car with an eco-minder gauge, and readouts. I haven't taken my eyes off them for 14 months, so thought I better join the club.

Live in the Coast Mountains of BC halfway between Vancouver and Whistler. My commute is 104km (round trip) all mountain highway. To work is uphill, and downhill coming home. Do as much coasting as possible on the way home. I know the road very well.

Question. How do you know where the acceleration sweet spot is to climb a hill most efficiently?
On approach I carry as much speed as I can. Uphill I will allow speed to drop somewhat, but wonder if comfortably charging up hill is more efficient?

Question. Is maintaining one speed a good BASIC rule (new guy here so please keep responses BASIC).

Thanks.
