This helped a lot. I assume that by reducing my engine size from 385 to 297 cc was the main reason for the CVT to shift to fast to the higher ratio.
Last measurent of the FE comes at 80 MPG , best sofar with this Burgman project.
But still many things to come to make more improvement. At this moment I am visiting the Vetters in CA.

Good to hear from you again. I am hopeing to get into that 80mpg zone myself with the modifications I am doing to the GS500. At present I am working on cargo boxes behind the riders legs with some taper at the rear and a behind the rider tapered cargo box as you suggested. I will be going to a 33 tooth rear sprocket, with a 17 tooth at the front sprocket and will use a 7% larger rear tire all of which will drop the rpm by about 1500 rpm [5500rpm ->4000rpm] below stock at 110km/hr. I should see some preliminary test result in 2 weeks when the snow melts. I will be going to a fuel economy run in Lacey Washington and If I can get into the 80+mpg zone on the 1100km [700 mile] trip to Lacey on May 7, I will go onto the Vetter Challeng in Carmel the following weekend.
