I have A/C in the car for my wife and "guests". That adds weight and drag to the accessory belt. The A/C was actually broken until I got it fixed for commuting last year. It would have been pretty awful to subject my coworker friend to no A/C in high summer on the freeway. The commuting led to a lot of sub-40 MPG tanks when I am normally getting 44 MPG minimum.
I am always modifying the way I drive depending on who is in the car with me.
