M-B 5 speed manuals are notoriously hard to come by in North America.

Being lighter, the OW 617 would be a good choice. The Crown Vic is too heavy for a VW TDI.
The T-56 is easy to find. They have been used in Mustangs, Canaros, Corvettes, Vipers, etc.
