My 3L engine probably needs ~1500rpm just to get into a decent area of the BSFC curve, so I'm not sure if gearing it taller would even be practical w/ a 4.6L engine. I think an engine/trans swap and the basjoos aeromod treatment would be needed to get to 40mpg highway.
