Not going to get into which I think is better (I am Honda biased), but keep in mind the fact that 1. wholesale prices on late model used cars are up in the US, so what you could buy with that budget 6 months ago is not what you could buy today, and 2. due to the events in Japan, you will see a lack of supply of new Japanese imports, raising the price on used ones yet again. I guess I am trying to say that either buy something real quick or fix the most pressing issues on yours and drive it until the used market calms down. Just my 2 cents.
