same aerodynamic rules that apply to cars apply to motorcycles, you have alot of your drag on the rear of the vehicle and from open rough cavities.
At least for the older ninja you could get rear fender kits as the rear fender on yours tends to be a big chunk of plastic just hanging out there and what would make sense to me would to get a close fitting rear fender then as the air flow over the top of the tire is seeing the tire move at twice your road speed.
