I don't mean to rag on your vehicle, but do you need the capacity regularly for any reason? If not, it might be wiser to look into a smaller vehicle rather than trying to squeeze blood from a stone.
That being said, you can deactivate one bank of cylinders by doing the following:
1. Using relays to cut out one bank of fuel injectors.
2. Spoofing the ECU by switching the O2 input for the dead bank with the live bank, and possibly repeating for the post-cat sensors.
The vehicle should have more than enough power to cruise on one bank. Because the engine itself doesn't deactivate cylinders or valves, you've still got that drag on the motor so you won't be seeing the same gains as engines designed for cylinder deactivation. I think you could expect an 5% improvement from doing this.
A good hint to see if a manual transmission would easily swap in is the location of the auto shifter. If it's on the floor, there's a good chance your vehicle has a manual available. If it's on the steering column, it probably doesn't. FWD transmissions use cables to connect the stick to the transmission so you'd have to cut holes in the firewall for the cables and do some welding/drilling to mount the shifter assembly to the floor of the car.
