With low oil - I'd assume the turbos or pistons (Which are cooled with oil jets from the bottom) would fail in fairly short order, so it wouldn't matter what the fuel economy was.

Low coolant? That's an interesting one - the engine would de-rate and eventually switch to an air cooled alternating cylinder mode. It would probably fuel like crazy to keep the cylinder temps down.

now you all have me curious - i'm going to go climb a hill with the scantool attached (not the instrument panel cluster) and see what kind of numbers it has for fuel economy
