Exactly. I would bet that the average European's cost of driving a given distance is about the same as the average American's. Gas costs twice as much per gallon/liter, but the car goes twice as far on that gallon.
Or my favorite calculation these days, which you may appreciate: At $4/gal, cost to drive 100 miles in 15 mpg SUV = $26.67. Cost to drive 100 miles in Insight = $5.62.
