Actually, the ultragauge only turns off if the switch is in the kill position for a few seconds, and it'll come back on when the switch is flipped back to run. I wasn't really paying attention to it while I was doing my driving test of it. If I only have it on kill for 2 seconds until the engine is completely dead, the ultragauge should stay on.
