Mapquest route 33 through the mountains from Va to West VA and look at the east downhill run coming across the border.

I almost died climbing that grade, when a big rig came around a corner followed by a Subaru that lost it and came into my lane, head on with less than 2 feet from my guard rail and an 800 foot vertical drop. 2 seconds later and he would have nailed me and knocked me over the guard rail.

Add some colder weather and runoff from an uphill spring freezing as it crosses the road.

Even I64 has some 8% grades for several miles. I know coming back from Blacksburg in my VX (I81 I think) I was using DFCO in 5th and even 4th to keep from running up a big rigs but at close to 80. Coasting without downshifting and DFCO would easily have gone over 100.
