Get her into a few cars see if she likes the something like the cobalt or pontiac g3 g5 or g6 I believe the g3 has an XFE model that gets epa 23/37. If she wants something muscular and powerfull try a G8 should still do better that the Jeep.
I would highly recommend having her look at a WV Golf (TDI).
