Hi Arragonis, on my yaris, the upper grille block is behind the grille. It's a factory jobbie and its job is to deflect air up to the intercooler duct, just over the top radiator member. You could install a 3/4 length grille block on the outside, with a bit inside the grille to deflect air up to your intake. It would look slightly odd on the outside but would do the job of grille blocking AND letting cold air into the intake. I have no pics of my grille block yet so words will have to do for now! Plus i'm having a few cool ones....
