I live in the Manistee National Forest which is hunted heavily during the season, but that really dosen't control them. I see from 10-40 every day on my 26 mile drive to work. I've only hit 3 in 12 years, but had many close calls. Just part of living here. Certain times of the year are worse than others, spring and fall being the worst for deer movement. The Auto Insurance companies sued the state of Michigan a few years ago to reduce the number of deer. They wanted the deer population reduced by 1 million deer. They issued a bunch of extra permits, but it's only temperary. They breed like rabbits. And the deer hunters have a stonger lobby than the auto insurance companies.
