.... I recently bought a new (2011) Fit and noticed the EPA disparity. In fact the dealer tried to steer me to an automatic saying "the mileage is better".
I told him "not the way I drive it".
I got the Sport model with manual and I really love it. I wish the gearing was lower, at 70 mph it's running 3400 RPM or so, but even so I get 38 MPG routinely. When I slow it down to 60 I can definitely do 40 but I usually don't have the luxury of going slow as I have a long commute.
In any event I haven't even aired up the tires or anything else yet so I am hoping to get over 40 with that and perhaps a belly pan.
