This couldn't be further from the truth.. The reason mechanics need a code reader is for very specific tests. There are home new ways to get the information needed, and if you truly understand how an engine operates, and how a fuel system needs to work in it's proper configuration, diagnosis of an efi system is just as easy, and indeed easier for some.
