Older trials bikes also make great trail bikes for shorter people or for people that don't like to sit down. The only major issue we had with ours is the small gas tank (XR tank can fit with modifications) and the lack of parts availability, it is sitting not driving currently due to the oddly designed rear sprocket that we couldn't replace cheaply.
It was the style for Japanese trials bikes to have those dished rear sprockets. If I recall, there is a company called Sprocket Specialists out of California that makes a spacer so that you can run a traditional XL250 rear sprocket pattern on your TL250. That bike is too cool to leave in the barn!!
