I thought of the turbo-alternator as well.
Problem
Turbos spin at speeds reaching 100,000 rpm(i've seen the readouts, just today actually)
gear reduction will bring up the torque while reducing the rpm
By-pass the exhaust will lower rpm also
which is easier?
Idunno.
