She isnt too far off the mark of what the manufacturer rating is. Hers is a 2005 base with an automatic.

Unless you are driving all highway with areomods and efficiency mods then I cant see your car doing too much better than hers is.
I have a MT cobalt base that is where the difference is. As long as I anticipate what I am going to have to do around town I can average above 40mpg stop and go and in stop and go traffic.

That is why I would try to avoid a future auto car in the future if I can.
