Those 5 planetary gears used to engage inner (motor) and outer (rim) surfaces like a centrifigal clutch. It used to go zzzzchchchc (solid) but now it goes zzhhzzhhzzhhzzzhhhhch (not as smooth now). If my description makes any sense to you - congratulations
