In my wife's 2003 Honda Pilot we change the oil between every 7,500 - 10k miles. It has been that way since the vehicle was brand new. We always use Quaker State 5W20 (Dino). We have never had a single issue. This vehicle now has around 234,000 miles on it and runs the way it did when it rolled off the lot. I am going to do the same thing in my Fit.
At my work we drive a big Diesel rig. We change its oil every 12.5k miles as the manual suggests.
