The parts might be stolen from you or they might be stolen parts? anything can be stolen, a friend of mine just bought a used car that from what we can tell was stolen about 8 years back, then again maybe it wasn't! new parts from discount places might be new parts that were stolen as well, same with Ebay, new stolen parts are going to be worth way more anyway, but salvage yards, at least legit salvage yard require incoming vehicles to have titles otherwise they are not worth as much and they match your ID with the VIN on the vehicle so if someone does bring in a stolen vehicle they know who brought it in.
