I'm only stating my opinion shooting from the hip... I think what you are implying is that if the lowest part of the airdam is equal to other equipment under the chassis, then you would have a cleaner; sort of natural clean bellypan like effect! Correct me if my guess is wrong.
In theory, I'd say to make it NASCAR style, almost scrape the ground! That way, hardly any air is there to effect mid under chassis turbulance!
But the reality is that most of us can't completely eliminate speed bumps, maybe curbs in front of parking places, HUMPY type driveway or parking lot entrances.
Granted, I like the looks of a low as possible airdam. If you were to incorporate an actual bellypan later on; I'm guessing that the smartest MR. SCIENCE guys on here; would prefer the flatest possible flow picture of air underneath, as opposed to a 45degree front bellypan start from a low dam, thusly over dirty-ing, the UNDER AIR! It could cause LIFT, but how much at what speeds?
If for arguement's sake, the person doing this won't usually go over 50mph., where would be the trade off factor for lower CD from a lower dam vs. the 45 degree angle picture mentioned above??
I feel like I've opened a large can of worms, here!!!
