They kept all the parts in a box and showed the damage on them.

In the case of the air flow meter, they showed the oily part.
Now there's a brilliant design !
It's one unit, a grid on either side so you can't get at the actual probe to clean it, and it sure looks like you can't remove the probe either.

Oil level was already up again, so changing it makes sense.
Swapping the oilfilter along is standard practice - less old oil remains in the system that way.

The DPF was replaced due to the number of cycles it had already done in its short 17.000km life, including one forced regeneration.

The "bill" will be interesting.
I haven't seen an invoice yet

The main dealership (it's a small chain) is to be commended for the effort they put in, but I'm left wondering about Volvo's parts quality and why none of this was spotted earlier on - the car's been in quite a few times.
Leaking air hoses are a known cause of trouble, so they should be checked even if there's no obvious damage.

Being abroad on vacation, Hägar has hardly racked up any miles lately.
I've emptied the tank with the additive, the partial fill-up has been done.
I expect to fill it up completely tonight or tomorrow at the latest, then it's back to hypermiling.

On the butt-dyno the engine seems to pull better .

Fuel efficiency has been tested at different steady speeds on CC and found to be more or less in the S40's ballpark - where it should be.
We'll see ...
