The funny thing about Lucas; if the accountants stayed out of the way, they probably would have been remembered for the most reliable electrics.
The folks in the front office always found a way to cheap out and get away with it. Was reading about the history of Jaguar in the US, and it was said that with some things all it took was an extra .04-.06p per unit to make the switches perfect, but they wouldn't do it.
