The most recent Diesel Particulate Filter regeneration has taken a whopping 78 km (that's 48.5 miles !) instead of the normal 10 km (6 miles) 
Over this 973km (605 mls) tank, the DPF has been regenerating 7 times, over a distance of 185km (115 mls) - or during 1 in every 5.26 km/mile !
During regeneration the fuel consumption often doubles on the OBC, so the overall FE suffers greatly.

This is not making me feel comfortable with getting a diesel..although I'm tempted as 50+mpg with out trying would be lovely.
