I've been quite pleased with the AWD. In blizzards I generally have my own private lane on the highway (the uncleared one). My wintertime hobby is passing Jeeps. Upkeep? Aside from consumables like brakes and filters, at 167k I think I've so far had to buy some headlight bulbs and one brake light bulb.
Nice move going to the Mini, though. That's going to be a blast.
