Cheapy USB Serial OBDII Ebay Purchase Help

I got the gizmo today. Seems well enough built Installed the drivers plugged in it so far so good but "nothing" when I run the program it says it can not find it.

Suggestions? It associated with com5 I tried them all. I even disabled my com1 port and set it to com 1 to no avail so far. Is there a process to getting these working? (I REALLY hate USB to SERIAL devices I would not have bought this if I had know it was USB to SERIAL and not TRUE USB) Grrrr

Anyone got one and figured out something special to make it work? Running on Windows XP via a tablet computer (old fujitsu 3400)
