You best look at the pic again.
It is very much a VWish wheelbase and the bulge up front is one of two over the front wheels, not centered or on the hood part of the front. The hubcaps look like VW/Porsche "nipple" caps to me, there's a big air intake vent aft of the doors for something to the rear of it, the back is tall enough to house a VW fan shroud and it lacks side glass to see through, the windows in the doors look to be physically impossible to open/close which a production vehicle wouldn't tolerate...
