FWIW, I finally broke down and installed ubuntu on a virtualbox (stuck w/windows as host, don't ask) and installed and ran the first openFOAM and parafoam tutorials
I will have to see how serious people are about helping to sort it out, or if it is just talk. Too much speculation in this arena...
